Housing Assistance for Single Mothers
There are several different kinds of housing assistance for single mothers that exist out there, but the most challenging part is finding one that you are a perfect candidate for and getting your application approved. However, there are even more housing assistance available for single mothers, especially since they have children that the State takes special interest in.
Having a home is most primary in the minds of every parent. Owning a home simply gives a whole family the ease of mind that they are taken care of, comfortable, secure and safe. Without a home, many people feel insecure, restless, and stressed because they do not have living accommodations that they can truly call theirs.
Finding and getting the single mother housing loan that can help buy a house for the family is definitely a huge help for the single mom. This can help improve their quality of life by allowing them to have an affordable loan whose interest and monthly payments are reasonable enough for any single mother to afford.
Some of the reasons why many single mothers have a hard time applying for regular home loans are that they are living on a single income; they do not have the money to make the down payment; or they have a bad credit history to their names. These are problems that are not special to any given individual because many single moms around the country and the world are experiencing these same problems.
Living on a single income makes it difficult for any single mothers to afford anything big aside from daily living expenses and educational and medical expenses. It is an unfortunate fact that many single mothers do not have high paying jobs due to the fact that they never finished school. Many regular loans may require that at least 30 percent of a single mom’s income is disposable income so that she can afford house payments. This is a very hard requirement to realistically fulfill for many single moms.
Another difficult requirement is coming up with a down payment, or equity, to put on a house’s assessed value to actually be approved for a loan. These down payments can reach thousands of dollars, or at least 10 percent of a house’s assessed market value, which is virtually an impossible thing for a single mom to come up with, especially if they live on a limited budget day to day.
Yet another almost impossible criterion to successfully fulfill for a regular loan application is a good credit history. Many single women may not have a good credit history because of the many loans and credit card payments they have due to their need to support their families. In difficult economic times, a good credit history is hard to come by as well.
The good news is there ARE housing assistance for single mothers that can be applied for out there. All it takes is a little initiative from a single mother to search and find the housing loans that are designed to assist mothers in need. Once they are found, then the process of application can be started and repeated until approval is reached to make another family’s dreams finally come true.
