The Sims 2
The Sim series has been one of the most popular casual games on the PC. The only SIM games I’ve had played before is Sim Hospital if I remember the name correctly. Anyway the game themes is set around the hospital where you build and expand your hospital to attract more customer’s as well as keeping the existing customers happy. I was never into Sim games before even now. But Sim Hostipal does keep me busy for a while until all my customer became unhappy and start vomiting around. The Sims 2 is another story here, it just seems that casual gaming fits better on the mobile devices. Of course, that’s just my own opinion, many of my friend’s enjoyed playing Sims on their PC.
Before you start the game, you are prompted to create your own character. Then you basically play as him in the Sim virtual world. You’ll be making new freinds, get jobs, buy new gadgets for your house, fall in love with a girl. It’s just like what you would normally do in the real world. It’s very similar to the PC counterpart, just less graphics, less options and less sound. But it still does pretty well on the mobile.
The graphics is more matured and less cutesy to those Ngage Sims and it capture the original Sims quite well. If you have played the PC version before, you will see many familiar icons & designs such as famous evolving crystal on the top of your head and the shower area. Animation has been scaled down to a few instead of the various actions you’d see in the PC version to fit the mobile resources limitation. So what they bascially do is cut down all the uneccessary small animation such as eating or cooking and represent it with cloud that contain the image of it. What really dissapoint is the game lack of music and sound that make the mobile version less spectacular.
Personally I think what makes Sims games so fun is that you can create your own characters and design him or her to your personality. This is where the game lacks too, you are forced to use the name Dario and even the available clothes options are reduced to just choices of colors. No fancy clothes, hairstyle or whatever. There’s a lot that can be improved in this port, but in the end The Sims 2 Mobile feels like an unfinished port of the original.
The game would have been a lot much better if they haven’t cut out all the little aspect which make the original so fun to play. Despite all the complains I had, The Sims 2 Mobile is still one of the best Sims games you could find on the mobile. If you are a Sims fans or more into casual gaming. Then this mobile game might be what you are lookng for.
