Confirmed! Nokia is in for Netbook Market
Just we published the news yesterday about Nokia interest in making Netbook. Today, Nokia officially announced that they will be making their own Netbook! Currently there’s no official release date or pricing info, but Nokia says that more information will be available on 2nd Sept 09. Here’s a little details about the Netbook released by Nokia. The netbook will be called Booklet 3G. Why? I’m not sure. It seems like a pretty standard name to me. As you might have guessed, It’ll be a 10 inch screen size netbook equipped with the newer Atom Z530 processor instead of N270 which most Netbook uses. But don’t expect much improvement from the new processor, it’s comparable to N270 & N280. Some other specs including:
- Wi-Fi
- 3g
- SD card reader
- A-GPS and maps integration
- Webcam
- Bluetooth
- 12 hour battery life (Claimed by Nokia, the longest battery life available)
With 3g & integrated A-GPS, seems like Nokia is trying to make its Netbook a wireless powerhouse. You don’t usually get such functions on other Netbook. And the 12 hours battery life is another great addition to get you excited about, even if it doesn’t live up the expectation, a 10 hours straight battery is pretty neat too. As for the OS, there’s no word on it yet, but it’ll be using Windows for sure. Will it be XP or the newest Windows 7 expected to release on 22nd Oct 09. We’ll have to wait a little longer until Nokia releases more information.
